Although I have enough on my plate right now, I thought I would add a blog in which we can discuss the issues of faith in an amiable fashion. As many of you know already, theology captures me. Why? because it deals with the precise details concerning God's Word. God has spoken to us fully and completely and there is no better task than to study the Word He has passed on to us.
Unfortunately, the modern church has largely neglected the desire for an in-depth, exegetical study of God's word. Rather than excavating the mines of theology written within the Old and New Testament, many in the church are satisfied with the top layer, the mere scrapings of limestone...when Gold lies beneath.
Additionally, we have turned ourselves into a church of mavericks. Pastors with no formal training whatsoever, elders who do not know the details of their ordination, and Christians who have neglected 2000 years of literature left behind by Godly men provided to us by the wonders of God's providence. We seek today to blaze our own trail, start our own church, neglect the men of faith who have come before us, and subsequently wander further and further into mistakes made time and again by heretics such as Marcion, Mani, and Montanist.
I am fully aware than many hundreds of blogs about theology exist already. Therefore, I am by no means trying to create an ultimate source of reference. Rather, I wish to provide a forum in which friends, family, and enquirers can discuss the issues that press against the windowglass of Scripture, yet we so often look the other way. I hope to stimulate discussion, debate, interest, and perhaps change.
